An Appetizer to Make Again and Again
Simplicity is Key with Crostini
Have you tried Crostini? I never had and didn't even know what it was until I did a search. I needed to use the remainder of unsliced bread and...Voila! I discovered crostini.
I was familiar with bruschetta but not crostini. Crostini are small, thin, crispy toasts and commonly referred to as bruschetta's "little cousin." They're used as a base for appetizers.
Crostini has become my go-to when I have leftover unsliced bakery bread. Making them is also a great way the last of pesto, dips or spreads.
3 Easy Steps to Scrumptious

Ingredients - Serves 2
- Bread
- Olive oil or avocado oil
- Pesto, dip or spread
- Toppings - Roma or cherry tomatoes, alfalfa sprouts
Note - My choices in the photos are - unsliced bakery bread, arugula pesto, Roma tomato slices and alfalfa sprouts. Have fun and mix it up.
Instructions
Step 1 - Slice the bread 1/2-inch thick. Set on a plate for an hour or two to dry. Drying helps with crisping.
Step 2 - Brush the bread on each side with oil. Place in the air fryer. Air fry at 365 degrees for 5 - 6 minutes. Flip halfway through.
Reminder - you know your appliances best. Adjust time & temps as needed.
Step 3 - Spread with the chosen pesto, dip or spread. Garnish with your choice of toppings.
Enjoy!
